If you're planning to hire me to write a custom Christmas card verse, end-of-year letter to friends and family, or to write your Christmas newsletter to customers, make sure you leave me plenty of time to deliver your content so that you can get it printed and mailed before the last Christmas posting dates 2022.
That all depends on how you plan to mail your letter and where you are sending it - the last date for international economy to most non-European destinations has already passed!
Royal Mail publish the last posting dates for Christmas 2022 on their Service Update page, so you can check for any changes there, but I've summarised the most important dates for you below.
Last Posting Dates for Christmas Cards 2022
- Bulk Mail Economy: Friday December 16th
- 2nd Class inc Signed: Monday December 19th
- Royal Mail 48: Monday December 19th
- 1st Class inc Signed: Wednesday December 21st
- Royal Mail 24 and Tracked 48: Wednesday December 21st
- Royal Mail Tracked 24: Thursday December 22nd
- Special Delivery Guaranteed: Friday December 23rd
This means that for business customers using Bulk Mail Economy, Christmas mailings should be sent before Friday December 16th for arrival before Sunday December 25th.
Key Posting Dates for Christmas 2022:
- Weds Dec 21st: 1st Class
- Mon Dec 19th: 2nd Class
- Fri Dec 16th: Bulk Mail Economy
Different dates apply for HM Forces post as well as all international deliveries, which you can check on the Royal Mail website - I'm assuming most of my clients and customers will be sending their mail within the UK.
Things to Remember for Christmas Copywriting Orders
The above does not mean that you can place custom Christmas copywriting orders on Thursday December 15th and get them in the mail in time for the Bulk Economy cut-off the next day!
Remember, these are the LAST posting dates for Christmas 2022, and there are many more factors that will influence whether your Christmas mailer reaches your customers in time:
- Some postcodes do not operate a full 6-day delivery schedule due to staffing issues
- There may be other delays and interruptions, including industrial action
- B2B customers may close for the holidays before Friday December 23rd
There's also an inevitable lead time - I can't produce content in zero time at all - so the earlier you place your order, the better chance there is that I can get it back to you, make any required edits, and you'll still have time to get it printed and into the post.
My Last Order Dates for Christmas 2022
This is subject to change depending on how busy I am by December, but I would ask wherever possible for you to place your orders for Christmas copywriting before the end of November (i.e. Friday November 25th to give you a month to get your content back, print and mail it). I will consider last-minute Christmas orders on a first-come, first-served basis subject to available capacity, and may quote a higher rate for orders placed in December, for December delivery.
Please note I don't offer printing and mailing services - I'll deliver your content to you digitally, so make sure you have plans to get it printed and mailed out, or to do so yourself if it's a personal item like a personalised verse for a Christmas card or a 'friends and family' letter.
