I'm clearly biased in saying that, but Google aren't, and good quality content is something they regularly recommend in their advice to webmasters.

So how do you rank better on Google in 2020? Simple. Publish relevant, useful content. Make sure it's well written - hire a writer if you need to (oh hello!) - and for the best SEO impact, publish new pages frequently, like once every 1-2 weeks.

There are some technical issues you might need to address, such as having a mobile-friendly website, but generally speaking, all other things being equal, publishing good text content on a regular basis is your best bet and it doesn't cost a fortune either.

Fresh look, fresh thinking

A lot has changed since I first went freelance in the summer of 2011, not least of which is the development of responsive web design, mobile-first search and super clean, 'flat' websites.

I don't do a lot of marketing and self-promotion - I have a good number of highly engaged happy customers who keep coming back for more - so my old blog had become dated and stagnant.

With that in mind, I figured now is the best time to launch a fresh updated look ready for the bright future that all the sci-fi movies told me to expect in 2020.

Even if we don't have hovercars and time travel by this time next year, at least I'll have Bobblewriter.
