Short Story Writing

Thursday 25 February 2021

Whenever I am contacted by someone who needs to hire a ghostwriter for a short story, I'm immediately interested. I produce a lot of factual content - online news articles, SEO landing pages, product descriptions etc - but fiction is where you can get really creative with words.

A short story is a search-friendly way to do that. Adjectives and metaphors can create a picture in the reader's mind, while plain text remains the easiest format for Google to crawl and index, adding to your presence in the search results.

In many cases, customers who want to hire a short story writer plan to publish the story in print, whether as a gift for a friend or family member, as marketing materials, as a teaching aid, or for some other purpose out there in the real, physical world.

That's absolutely fine too, and allows even more freedom of expression, to create something original, engaging and perfectly tailored to fit the brief.

Short stories allow you to paint a picture with words.
A picture paints a thousand words - but I say, why use a picture when you can use a thousand words instead??

Whatever You Want

I will write very nearly anything you want. As a short story ghostwriter, I don't expect to be credited as the author - and if my name is not used, you're free to change the story at a later date or make any edits to really make it your own creation.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns in the UK in 2020, I was thrilled to be featured in Matthew Rimmer's Time Scope anthologies, contributing two short stories (and some spoof Christmas carol lyrics) to the hugely successful Doctor-Who-themed charity e-books.

Time Scope 2020 and Twice Upon A Time Scope are anthologies of poetry, short stories and factual contributions by past and present cast and crew from Doctor Who, as well as an army of talented fans.

In the past I've been commissioned to write short stories for a wide range of different purposes, including an early-years education aid to teach young children about the environment, right through to erotic fiction for an adult telephone chatline's website.

There are not many subjects I won't tackle head-on, and I enjoy working on very specific or unusual briefs, so please don't be afraid to ask, no matter what you need writing!

How To Order

If you'd like to know more about my short story writing services, please email me. I'd love to hear your ideas for your story. Short stories make really engaging marketing materials, as well as great gifts for loved ones, and I can be flexible to accommodate different budgets.

You might also want to consider ordering a bespoke short story to support a marketing campaign as part of a multichannel mix. This could work well as an email marketing mailshot, a standalone page on your website, or printed out and included in your physical marketing materials.

I can work on multiple formats, fact and fiction, so you only need the one author for all your different materials - helping to keep things simple and bring your project in on time and on budget.
